What we are looking for:
We're seeking an exceptional Infrastructure & Security Engineer on a contract basis to bring depth and expertise to our engineering team.The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of infrastructure management and cybersecurity principles, with a proven track record of implementing and maintaining robust IT systems and security protocols.
You will work alongside colleagues in Product, Design, Delivery, Science, and Engineering to develop a top-tier product that is easy to use, performs well, and maintains high security. Your role will involve comprehensive engagement across our product and data platform stack. You will quickly gain expertise in our domain—ecology & biodiversity, nature regulation, and reporting frameworks—and communicate effectively with other teams.
This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills to combat the nature crisis in a highly impactful position that will shape the nature platform we are building at natcap.
In this position, you will need experience of:
Design, implement, and manage secure, resilient, and scalable cloud infrastructure primarily on AWS, with knowledge of Google Cloud being advantageous.
Utilise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration Management (CM) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Puppet to enhance infrastructure deployments and security configurations.
Apply security best practices and compliance benchmarks to cloud infrastructure using IaC and CM tools, aiming to standardise and improve the security posture of our cloud infrastructure.
Integrate IaC and CM practices within CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket, Jenkins, CodePipeline, and Bamboo.
Manage containerized applications using Docker, with deployments on Kubernetes, Lambda, EKS, and ECS—preferably EKS.
Implement and maintain security measures, including SAST, vulnerability scanning, and code linting within the delivery pipeline.
Leverage AWS services like Config and CloudTrail to monitor and help secure environments.
This position is a 6-month contract and the budget is up to £500 a day (Outside IR35) with the potential for impact in a growing, mission-driven organisation.
